Nepal Biology Olympiad (NBO) is the national event to select the bright higher secondary school (+2/A Levels) students from biology background who are most likely to excel in the health, biological, natural and life sciences fields. The outstanding four (4) selected most brilliant NBO finalists get the opportunity to attend in the prestigious International Biology Olympiad in the following year, Nepal started it’s IBO journey from 2017, UK as an observer and with full delegations from IBO 2019 Hungary. Nepal bagged bronze medal in IBO 2020 Challenge Japan by Mr Awahan Sapkota from St. Xavier’s College, Kathmandu.
We are pleased to inform you that STEM Foundation Nepal, an affiliated member of International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is organizing Nepal Biology Olympiad (NBO) 2021, a national screening event for International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2021 to be held in Lisbon, Portugal from July 18 – 25, 2021.
NBO Contains Scientific and Organizing Committees responsible for all the events and activities throughout the process. The scientific committee prepares the questions for all levels, where high school teachers, some STEM professionals, college lecturers and university professors are the team members along with some very senior national/international advisors.
Nepal Biology Olympiad 2021 is a national competition to select 4 students in the field of Biology to represent Nepal in the prestigious global event, International Biology Olympiad 2021 Lisbon, Portugal. The competition will bring different institutions under one roof thereby serving as the platform for sharing and learning new experiences in the field of Biology. The competition comprises of written and practical exam through experimental and field activities.

Event: Nepal Biology Olympiad, the Secondary Level Individual level Competitions in Biological Sciences till the finals.
The competition will offer all the participating schools with an excellent opportunity for enhancing the knowledge of their students in the field of Biology as well as for the global exposure of the students and schools.
Type of competition: MCQ based exam, Practical exams, Activity based markings, Project development.
Age Limit: Below 20 years
Education Limit: Not joining the University Classes before IBO
International Biology Olympiad
The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is an association that organizes a yearly competition for secondary school students, who are winners of their respective National Biology Olympiad. Their skills in tackling biological problems, and dealing with biological experiments are tested. Interest in biology, inventiveness, creativity and perseverance are necessary. In bringing together gifted students, the IBO competition tries to challenge and stimulate these students to expand their talents and to promote their career as scientists.
A very important point is gathering young people from over the world in an open, friendly and peaceful mind. Every participating country sends four students, who are the winners of the respective national competitions. They are accompanied by two team leaders who represent the country.
The “International Biology Olympiad e.V.” (IBO) is the association that organizes the world’s premier biology competition for secondary school students.
In bringing together gifted students, the IBO competition challenges and stimulates these students to expand their talents and to promote their future careers as scientists.
